Equipment Grub boxes - $30/box. The PLC (Patrol Leader Council) approved the motion to buy 6 of them from Troop 410. TC agreed. July/August - Mr. Franke said it is time again for T49 to make a presentation before the church governing body about our activities and how much we appreciate their sponsorship. AC: Mrs. Maxwell and Mr. Morris. They will work to have all three scouting groups there at the same time (Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and Venture Scouts). Mrs. Moore suggested that the boys working on their communication merit badge may want to be a part of the presentation. Fund raisers None on the schedule. James P. collected more money than he needed for his Eagle Project. He will be donating the remainder ($500) to Troop 49. Thank you, James. Treasurer's report The transition from old treasurer (Mr. Morris) to new treasurers (Mr. Allison and Mrs. Henry) is very close. We have in checking $4707.80; savings $354.18; and about $350 in the troop's deposit bag that will get into the bank early next week. Other Plaques in meeting room ? The church will hang what we want hung. Discipline issues The group discussed the delicate balance between boy lead and adult-organized, freedom and self-control. The concern is that some boys are not making good choices and continuing to make bad ones when corrected, putting others in harms way or making the event less fun for the others. Here are the solutions, decided by the PLC and supported by the TC: T49 is a boy led troop and will continue that way. Our SPL will work closer with his ASPL and PL's to provide closer organization of activities. Troop 49 Behavior Rules 1.Patrol leaders are responsible for informing the Senior Patrol Leader when a scout is unable to adhere to basic health and safety guidelines or when they're overly disruptive. 2.Institute a three strike system if the SPL intervention doesn't modify the scout's behavior. (a)Strike one - When an adult informs the scout specifically that what they're doing will no longer be tolerated. (b)Strike two - Appropriate separation (10-15 minutes) from the activity if the adult has to remind the scout again, (c)Strike three - Scout will be immediately removed from the event and have to appear before a Patrol Leader Review Board to discuss their behavior before they'll be invited back to regular meetings or events. Patrol Leader Review Board will consist of the SPL, ASPL, disciplined scout's patrol leader, Scout master, committee chair, and at least one guardian of the disciplined scout. This plan will be presented to the scouts by the SPL at the next regular meeting. Mr. Morris will also do a presentation for parents. New Edition of Scout Book - Mr. Morris and Mrs. Moore will work on the policy for the transition from the new and old Scout books. If you've started on a book, keep using it. Other details forthcoming. Respectfully submitted, Mrs. Nyfeler, Troop 49 Secretary Key to acronyms for the new folks: AC ? Adult Coordinator (for an activity) APL ? Assistant Patrol Leader ASPL ?
